I never knew that deciding a winner in a contest could be so hard. I loved all the captions you all sent in! After widdling it down to three...then finally two...I couldn't decide...So I decided to toss the coin. Marley acted as witness...I swear. So the winner is...
JOANNE! The funny thing about Joanne's caption, though it it is a pretty well known saying...From the picture, it so totally looks like Liz is saying that! I have to say Carol...your caption could be very easily be interpreted by a pouty Liz trying to knit with cobs...Lord knows I'm surprised she hasn't...but I had to stick with the rules and wasn't allowed to include your entry....But it gave me a good chuckle!
Now, what did Joanne win? A lovely skein of Fleece Artist sock yarn in the Parrot color way:
Oh, but you didn't know about another little contest that was going on at the same time...well, not really a contest... more like a milestone with booty to celebrate. It just so happened that I was also coming up on the 1000th comment on my blog. So, I have decided to give the lucky 1000th commenter a little somethun' somethun' too---which ended up being Beth! So Beth, knowing that I was the one to entice you with pictures of Pink Lemon Twist's "Hot Rod" socks to begin with...This is awaiting to be mailed to you...Yep, yarn to make you all the more speedy on the flyball lanes!
So ladies, send me your addresses (Joanne, I know I have yours in my address book...I think I was organized enough to put it in there...but just in case, send it to me again.)
Well it was a very busy week/weekend for us. I took of a few days because one of best friends from college (Dawn) and her hubby (Gino) made it down to visit us again for our annual Jimmy Buffett concert which was Thursday. My how quickly the year has passed by. Nothing like trying to party and have a good time while you baking in a parking lot all day in 100 degree weather. But with a bit of ingenious thinking, we snagged the dog pool and brought it with us, filled up three 5 gallon jugs of water, and picked up 6 bags of ice and dumped it in the pool and kept our tootsies plunged in the whole time (well almost the whole time, it was so cold at first that we had to keep pulling them out) We were completely comfortable through the entire day in the parking lot while all the passer-byers were in complete awe and planning our demise so that they could steal our pool.
Our annual group shot (Well, kind of...again, some of you are missing!--Why is this so hard to do?) :
Carol made it!
More beer and sweaty people!
OH! and passed out people at a Jimmy show is nothing new...granted, most of them are seen in the parking lot through out the day. But let me advise you, if you are feeling like you are on the edge, don't go in the show...Just stay in the lot and sleep it off.
This guy didn't get the message...Doing so in the concert leaves for thousands of people that have been drinking all day, in the heat, and still sober enough to push a button, to easily use you as "that" picture on their blog...including me...he's probably famous on the Internet now:
Then random strangers began to jump in to take a picture with you:
And friends pose with him too:
And then all the people surrounding you, flashing their cameras, creates such a spectacle that other things seem to be attracted to you:
Ah, good times.
The kids say a big thank you to Aunt Nancy and Uncle Brian for taking care of them that day! Mommy & Daddy appreciate it!
